Natural magick by John Baptista Porta, a Neapolitane : in twenty books : wherein are set forth all the riches and delights of the natural sciences
An English translation, printed in London in 1658 for Thomas Young and Samuel Speed, of Giambattista della Porta's twenty-book compendium of recipes, experiments and craft secrets, read by gentlemen naturalists and practitioners of the trades. The plates here are printer's furniture and diagrams rather than scenes: repeating bands of fleuron and acorn ornament, a hatched foliate woodcut initial, and line figures lettered A to H with measured sides, useful as rules, borders, drop caps and schematic line art.
