The nature of Gothic : a chapter of The stones of Venice
A single chapter of Ruskin's The Stones of Venice, reset and printed by William Morris at the Kelmscott Press in Hammersmith in 1892 for readers of the revived fine-press book. The plates are woodcut initial letters drawn by Morris, white capitals held in dense black grounds of curling vine, bud and leaf, useful as drop caps, monograms and ornamental tiles.
