Excavation memoir on the Greek trading settlement of Naukratis in the Nile Delta, issued by the Egypt Exploration Fund in London in 1886 for subscribing members and scholars of Greek and Egyptian antiquity, with contributions by Griffith, Head and Gardner. Plates reproduce potsherds and vessel fragments in grainy halftone, showing archaic painted friezes of lions, goats, cockerels and sphinxes among rosettes, banded rims and meander borders, usable as animal-frieze motifs, repeating ornament strips and fragmentary silhouette shapes.
