The Netherland galleries : being a history of the Dutch school of painting, illuminated and demonstrated by critical descriptions of the great paintings in the many galleries

Preyer, David C. (David Charles), 1861-1913 · 1912 · Boston : St. Botolph Society · 46 pictures

A survey of Dutch painting written by David C. Preyer and published in Boston by the St. Botolph Society in 1912, meant as a gallery companion for American readers visiting or reading about museums in Amsterdam, The Hague and Haarlem. The plates are sepia halftones of paintings by Rembrandt, Ter Borch, Codde and others, each captioned with artist, title and collection: militia companies, ballrooms, tavern interiors and candlelit group scenes useful for period costume and crowd staging.
