Neue deutsche Buchillustration
A 1915 survey of contemporary German book illustration written by Rudolf Bleistein and issued in Berlin by the Verein der Plakatfreunde, an association of poster collectors, for artists, publishers and print enthusiasts. The plates sample many hands: dense pen hatching, high-contrast wood-engraved interiors with patterned wallpaper, Jugendstil borders and knights, and figures reserved as bare white shapes against black — useful for texture fills, silhouette handling and decorative framing.
