The new American practical navigator : being an epitome of navigation, containing all the tables necessary ...
Nathaniel Bowditch's navigation manual, first published in 1802 by Edmund M. Blunt at Newburyport for Salem booksellers and sold to American and West Indian mariners, combining tables with instruction in nautical astronomy. The plates are small letterpress-era woodcut and engraved geometry diagrams — lettered triangles, arcs, circles with inscribed chords, and labels like "X Long." and "Dep." in period type — usable as line-drawing motifs, technical ornament, or lettered diagram fragments.
