A new astronomy for beginners
An 1898 school astronomy textbook by David Peck Todd, issued by the American Book Company in New York and Cincinnati for beginning students. Plates mix wood-engraved instruments and armillary globes, white-on-black star charts with radiating meridian grids, gridded Mars and sunspot drawings, and halftone lunar craters in raking light — useful for celestial diagrams, scientific line work, and pocked terrain textures.
