Newman's manual of harmonious coloring, as applied to photographs : together with valuable papers on lighting and posing the sitter
A technical manual on hand-coloring photographs and on lighting and posing portrait sitters, written by James Newman with papers by M. Carey Lea and issued in Philadelphia by Benerman & Wilson in 1866 for working studio photographers. The plates are wood-engraved diagrams: skylight studio interiors in section, plan views of camera and sitter positions, ray paths lettered A–D, and a six-part color circle.
