New and original magic : comprising a number of novel and entertaining effects : a fund of information for the professional artist and his younger brother, the amateur
A 1922 conjuring manual by Edward Morrell Massey, published in New York and Lancashire, setting out original tricks and apparatus for stage magicians and amateurs. Massey's own brush drawings are high-contrast black silhouettes set inside thick circles and broken crescent rules — gloved hands gripping cards, boxes and tables seen in sharp perspective — usable as spot illustrations, roundel badges and hand-and-object motifs.
