A millwork trade catalogue issued by Rand, McNally & Co. in Chicago in 1891 for Johnson & Hurd of Minneapolis, showing stock mouldings and finish woodwork to builders, carpenters and lumber dealers ordering by number. Most plates are outline cross-sections of moulding profiles drawn at size, each numbered and marked with its inch dimensions, alongside line elevations of doors, stair rails, balusters and newel posts; the profile curves work as ready-made silhouettes, borders and repeatable ornament.
