A volume of local antiquarian history by Francisco Monsalvatje y Fossas on the castles and monasteries of the Girona region, printed at Olot by J. Bonet in 1889 for Catalan scholars and collectors. The illustrations are printer's decorations: pen-drawn display initials built from thick-and-thin scrollwork with hatched shading and sprays of fine hairlines, plus symmetrical chapter headbands centred on a small flower, usable as drop caps, dividers and rule ornaments.
