Giovanni Battista Zaist's biographical account of the painters, sculptors and architects of Cremona, printed there by Pietro Ricchini in 1774 for local antiquarians and art historians. The plates in this index are small square woodcut initials, letters set against landscapes with churches, towers, trees and tiny figures and animals, heavily inked and framed by a ruled border, usable as drop caps, spot ornaments or coarse-grained texture.
