A British research periodical on microscopy, published from 1853 by the Clarendon Press in Oxford for the Royal Microscopical Society and its scientific readership. The plates are lithographed drawings of cells, ova, and tissue sections in fine outline and stipple, keyed with lettered labels and micrometer scales, useful as line-art cell diagrams and dense stippled textures.
