Abregé de l'histoire de Jeanne Darc

Voltaire (1694-1778), Joan, of Arc, Saint, 1412-1431 · 361 pictures

A hand-copied French manuscript of Voltaire's burlesque verse on Joan of Arc, written out by an eighteenth-century scribe in Fench cursive for private reading rather than print. Every page is ruled in red ink and filled with looping, heavily flourished script, giving designers letterform models, ascender and descender ornament, and simple single-rule page frames with generous margins.
