Botta, Paul Emile, Flandin, Eugène (1809-1876), Oury, Charles · 1849 · Imprimerie nationale · 355 pictures

A five-volume French government folio recording Paul-Émile Botta's excavations at Khorsabad, published by the Imprimerie nationale in Paris in 1849 with plates drawn by Eugène Flandin for scholars and the Institut's commission. The plates reproduce cuneiform inscriptions and carved slabs as pale grey tonal blocks floating in wide blank margins, with fine engraved rules, plate numbers and running heads—useful for texture fills, dense glyph patterning, and austere page layouts.
