Oak Hall pictorial.
A promotional trade catalogue of ready-made clothing issued by George W. Simmons's Oak Hall store in Boston in 1854, aimed at men and boys buying coats, trousers and outfits by mail or over the counter. Small wood engravings show crowds of figures in frock coats, top hats and cutaway jackets, street and doorway scenes, and family groups, giving designers period costume silhouettes, hatted crowd friezes and horizontal vignette strips.
