Oak-leaf jars; a fifteenth century Italian ware showing Moresco influence
A collector's study by the painter and ceramics scholar Henry Wallis, published by Bernard Quaritch in London in 1903 for museum curators and majolica collectors. Line drawings printed in ochre record two-handled Italian jars painted with oak-leaf sprays, dotted borders, hatched grounds and Moorish scrollwork, giving designers vessel silhouettes and repeatable foliate and banded ornament.
