Observations and suggestions on brushwork and colour study
A teacher's manual on brushwork and colour study by Frederick Hitchman, issued in London by the Educational Supply Association in 1906 for drawing masters and school pupils. The plates are black-ink brush exercises: single-stroke petals, daisy rosettes, leaf sprays, curling scrolls and right-angle corner rules, each shape built from a few tapered strokes that can be lifted as spot ornaments, borders or repeat motifs.
