Observations sur l'architecture
A treatise on architectural theory by the Jesuit critic Marc-Antoine Laugier, published at The Hague in 1765 for architects and educated readers debating classical rule and reform. The scanned images here are not plates but the binding's marbled endpapers: hand-combed swirls of rose, slate blue, ochre and cream on laid paper, with visible fibre, foxing and edge wear that suit backgrounds, endsheet reproductions and textured colour fields.
