Ocean trade and shipping
A 1914 Cambridge University Press survey of ocean trade and shipping by Sir Douglas Owen, written for merchants, marine insurers and students of commerce. The plates are halftone photographs of London's shipping institutions — the underwriting and exchange floors, empty and crowded, a carved stone facade in close crop, and a press photograph of top-hatted men at a sale — useful for Edwardian interior architecture, glass domes and crowd silhouettes.
