Ocherki pamiatnikov khristiansko ikonografi i iskusstva
A Russian handbook surveying monuments of Christian iconography and art, written by the church archaeologist Nikolai Pokrovsky and printed by A. P. Lopukhin in St Petersburg in 1900 for seminary students and students of church antiquities. The 253 plates are line redrawings after catacomb paintings, mosaics, carved ivories and sarcophagus reliefs, apse compositions and manuscript miniatures, giving designers flat outline versions of early Christian and Byzantine figures, haloes, ornamental borders and symbols.
