Ohio archæological and historical publications
A serial volume of the Ohio State Archaeological and Historical Society, issued from Columbus by F.J. Heer from 1887 for members and local historians researching the state's antiquities and settlement. The plates reproduce painted portraits as coarse-screened halftones — men in high-collared coats, epaulettes and brass buttons, set against dark vignetted grounds — useful for period faces, uniform detail and grainy oval-framed headshots.
