Old world lace; or, A guide for the lace lover
A collector's identification guide to European handmade lace, written by Clara M. Blum and published by E. P. Dutton in New York in 1920 for lace buyers, needleworkers and museum visitors. The plates are photographs of lace borders and flounces shot flat against black cloth, giving high-contrast white線 motifs: scrolling foliage, rosettes, pomegranate forms, scalloped edges and varied mesh grounds that can be lifted as borders, stencil silhouettes or repeating pattern fills.
