Olympic victor monuments and Greek athletic art
A 1921 archaeological monograph by Walter Woodburn Hyde, published by the Carnegie Institution of Washington for classicists and art historians, cataloguing Olympic victor statues and Greek athletic sculpture. The plates are halftone photographs of marble and bronze nudes shot against black or blank grounds, giving designers isolated standing figures, raised-arm and boxing poses, heads, and fragmentary torsos on plinths.
