Ombre apparenti nel Teatro d'imprese
Giovanni Ferro's Ombre apparenti nel Teatro d'imprese, printed by Giacomo Sarzina in Venice in 1629, is a supplement to his treatise on emblems and heraldic devices, written for courtiers and scholars who composed and interpreted imprese. The plates are woodcut printer's ornaments: inhabited initials with grotesque profile heads, winged trumpeters and acanthus, plus foliate headpiece strips with a central mask.
