Omnia Andreae Alciati v.c. emblemata : cum commentariis, quibus emblematum omnium aperta origine, mens authoris explicatur, & obscura omnia dubiaque illustrantur
Andrea Alciati's emblem book in Claude Mignault's annotated Latin edition, printed in Paris by Hieronymus de Marnef and the widow of Guillaume Cavellat in 1583 for humanist readers and students of moral allegory. Some 246 small woodcuts set nude and robed figures, beasts, ruins and harbours in outdoor scenes, each ringed by a thick arabesque or strapwork border usable as a reusable frame.
