On colour, and on the necessity for a general diffusion of taste among all classes
An 1858 treatise by the Egyptologist Sir John Gardner Wilkinson, published by John Murray in London, arguing for colour theory and design taste among British manufacturers, workmen and householders. The plates are spare outline drawings of vase profiles, handles, feet and ornament panels, useful as silhouettes, contour templates for ceramic shapes, or line motifs for borders and monograms.
