Collected writings on painting by the court painter Anton Raphael Mengs, edited by José Nicolás de Azara and printed in Italian by the Remondini press at Bassano in 1783 for artists, collectors and connoisseurs. The plates are copperplate engravings in the antiquarian manner, including a two-sided commemorative medal with a profile head and a sphinx-topped pedestal bearing dated inscriptions; scans also catch a pressed flower stem dried between the letterpress pages.
