Opuscoli di Agostino Gerli
A set of technical essays by the Milanese designer and engineer Agostino Gerli, printed at the royal press in Parma in 1785 for patrons, architects and learned readers, covering inlaid pavements, encaustic painting, ventilation, church architecture and early balloon flight. The engraved plates are fine outline work: symmetrical ceiling and wall schemes filled with grotesque borders, small figure vignettes and panelled compartments, alongside a lettered section through a domed church, giving designers ready-made frames, repeating border strips and clean architectural line drawing.
