Vignola's treatise on the five orders of architecture, first issued in 1562 and here reprinted in Siena by Bernardino Oppi in 1635 with a set of Michelangelo door designs appended, for masons, builders and students of design. The engraved plates give arcades, pedestals, fluted column bases and entablatures in elevation and section, annotated with module scales and dimension lines, several carrying figural relief friezes of putti, scrollwork and acanthus.
