Origines de la dentelle de Venise et l'ecole de Burano
A short Italian study of Venetian needle lace and the Burano lace school, printed in Venice by Charles Ferrari in 1907 for collectors, lace teachers and the revival workshops then copying historic patterns. The plates are photographs of lace laid on black grounds, so white scrolling foliage, flower sprays, oval medallions and a pleated fan leaf read as high-contrast silhouettes usable as borders, all-over repeats and stencil-like ornament.
