A three-volume history of ancient civilization by the French magistrate Antoine-Yves Goguet, completed by Alexandre Conrad Fugère and translated into English by Robert Henry and Alexander Spearman for the Edinburgh trade in 1775, addressed to lawyers and antiquarian readers tracing the beginnings of law, craft, and science. The engraved plates give measured elevations, plans, and sections of Egyptian temple fronts and pylons, drawn in fine outline with masonry coursing, hieroglyph-filled columns, and ruled scale bars in fathoms.
