Collegium Societatis Jesu Ratisbonensis · 1721 · [Ratisbonae] : Typis Joannis Baptistae Lang, Episcopal. Typogr · 20 pictures

A Latin emblem book issued in 1721 by the Jesuit college at Regensburg from the press of Johann Baptist Lang, celebrating Johann Theodor of Bavaria's succession to the prince-bishopric and addressed to a learned courtly readership. The plates are small circular copperplate emblems, each framed by double rules and lettered with a Latin motto, showing rigged ships on hatched seas, rocky outcrops, star fields and radiating suns, useful as roundel devices, nautical silhouettes and engraved star-and-ray motifs.
