Osservazioni istoriche sopra alcuni medaglioni antichi
Filippo Buonarroti's antiquarian study of ancient Greek and Roman medallions, printed in Rome by Domenico Antonio Ercole in 1698 for collectors and scholars of coins and inscriptions. Engraved plates array obverse and reverse medallion faces — imperial portrait busts, winged Victories, altars, temples, horsemen and Greek legends — alongside foliate headpiece vignettes and square initial letters framed in ruled grounds, wheat ears and tulip wreaths, usable as roundel ornament, borders and drop caps.
