A 1703 Roman polemic by the Spanish painter and priest Vicente Victoria, printed by Gaetano Zenobi, arguing against Malvasia's Felsina pittrice in defence of Raphael and the Carracci for an audience of connoisseurs and artists. The plates are woodcut headpieces, tailpieces and page ornaments: putti riding acanthus scrolls, symmetrical foliage with berries, stars and tulip-like blooms, useful as rules, dividers and small spot ornaments.
