Ourdissage

1700 · [n.p.] · 18 pictures

A French manuscript notebook on ourdissage (warping) and loom setup, written by hand and undated beyond a catalogue year of 1700, kept as a working reference for silk and satin weavers. Its pages are pen-and-ink weaving drafts: ruled staves of warp and weft lines filled with crosses and inked dots, bracketed and lettered A dash D at the margins, with cursive French captions naming armures and coups dash usable as grid patterns, tick textures, and handwriting motifs.
