Our political drama, conventions, campaigns, candidates
Joseph Bucklin Bishop's 1904 account of American nominating conventions and presidential campaigns, published in New York by Scott-Thaw and illustrated with reproductions of nineteenth-century newspaper and broadside cartoons for a general reading public. The wood-engraved cartoons pack figures, placards, horses and carts across wide horizontal bands with hand-lettered speech labels crowding the sky, useful for banner-shaped compositions, crowd silhouettes and period lettering.
