A memorial edition of the life, letters and papers of the Bremen astronomer Wilhelm Olbers, edited by C. Schilling at the request of his descendants and issued by J. Springer in Berlin in 1894 for astronomers and historians of science, with Gauss among the correspondents. The plates are fine-line geodetic triangulation diagrams: webs of thin straight and dashed lines joining survey points, each vertex labelled in italic serif type with a German hill or town name, useful as ready-made network graphics and map lettering.
