Pacis aqvilam inter et lilia initae elogia
A Latin emblem book printed at Milan in 1660 by Giulio Cesare Malatesta for the Spanish governing court, marking the 1659 Peace of the Pyrenees between the Habsburg eagle and the French lilies. Woodcut emblems sit in scrolled strapwork cartouches with motto ribbons and small landscape scenes, framed by repeating leaf-and-shell borders, floral headpieces and foliate tailpieces useful as page frames, device panels and ornament stock.
