Painters and sculptors; a second series of Old masters and new
Kenyon Cox's 1907 collection of critical essays on painters and sculptors from Pollaiuolo and Holbein to Rembrandt, Rodin and Leighton, published in New York by Duffield for American general readers and art students. The 70 halftone plates reproduce paintings, drawings and sculpture in soft grey monochrome, often very dark, giving draped figures, nudes, group scenes and portrait heads usable as texture or silhouette.
