Painting and painters' materials: a book of facts for painters and those who use or deal in paint materials

Condit, Charles L, Scheller, Jacob · 1883 · New York, The Railroad gazette · 46 pictures

A trade manual on industrial painting and paint materials, written by Charles L. Condit and Jacob Scheller and published in New York by The Railroad Gazette in 1883 for house and sign painters, contractors and paint dealers. The plates pair ruled tonal blocks that compare pigment coverage and hatching density with page after page of gothic monogram alphabets, giving designers ready-made interlaced two-letter ciphers, ornamental blackletter capitals and flat hatched swatch panels.
