A 1913 St. Petersburg monograph by S. N. Kaznakov on the Imperial Porcelain Factory's "packet" snuffboxes, porcelain lids painted to imitate folded, addressed and sealed letters, written for collectors and museum curators. Plates reproduce these trompe-l'oeil surfaces in colour: red and orange wax seal blobs centred on pale ruled paper, cursive Russian addresses, black borders framing each card.
