Palaces, castles and residences in France: Built from the 15th to the 18th century
A four-volume survey of French domestic architecture from the fifteenth to the eighteenth century, compiled by Claude Sauvageot and issued around 1860 for architects, builders and students of historic building. The plates are fine outline engravings of elevations, plans and details rendered in light stipple and hatching, isolating doorways, pilasters, carved cartouches, vaulted plans and foliate friezes that can be lifted as line ornament, borders or architectural silhouettes.
