Palerme & Syracuse
Charles Diehl's survey of the art and monuments of Palermo and Syracuse, published in Paris by H. Laurens in 1907 as part of a French series of illustrated city-art handbooks for travellers and students. The 124 plates are mostly halftone photographs of Arab-Norman churches, domes, cloister arcades, interlaced arches and floor mosaics, with some line engravings recording mosaic figures and capital ornament pier by pier.
