A Russian church-archaeology survey by Archbishop Makarii, published in 1857 for clergy and antiquarians documenting Orthodox church buildings, plans and liturgical objects. Wood-engraved plates mix flat elevations and sections of timber and masonry churches with scaled ground plans, plus tonal views of tented roofs and onion domes and close studies of ornament such as rosettes and metalwork; useful as line-drawn architectural silhouettes, measured diagrams and circular ornament motifs.
