Papers on Froebel's kindergarten, with suggestions on principles and methods of child culture in different countries
A compilation of essays on Friedrich Fröbel's kindergarten and child-culture methods abroad, edited by Henry Barnard and published at Hartford in 1881 for American teachers and school reformers. The plates reproduce columns of coarse alphabet woodcuts in the New England Primer manner, each letter paired with a tiny scene of Adam and Eve, preachers, animals, deathbeds and houses, useful as crude figurative spot art or as a ready-made illustrated alphabet.
