Paris in old and present times
A survey of Parisian architecture and topography written by the English critic and etcher Philip Gilbert Hamerton, published in Boston by Roberts Brothers in 1885 for American readers of illustrated art and travel books. The plates are pen-and-ink and wood-engraved elevations and river views of palaces, churches and quays, drawn in dense parallel hatching against blank sky, useful for silhouettes of roofs, towers and arcades and for examples of crosshatched shading.
