Paris : Notizen
Karl Scheffler, a German art critic, published these notes on Paris and French painting in 1908 with Insel-Verlag in Leipzig for German readers travelling or reading about the city. The 71 plates are soft grey halftones: boulevards crowded with carriages and pedestrians, wide river and harbour views under blank sky, and reproductions of paintings of picnics and interiors — useful for hazy atmospheric backgrounds, small crowd silhouettes, and low-contrast tonal texture.
