Paris, province, étranger
An album of caricature drawings by Charles Huard, published in Paris by Rey in 1906, collecting his observations of Parisians, provincial townspeople and foreigners for a French readership of illustrated humour albums. The plates are pen-and-ink character studies — paunchy men in top hats and checked trousers, bearded villagers, women in striped skirts — drawn with heavy contour lines and hatched shading, with sketchy trees and housefronts behind; useful for period costume silhouettes and crowd groupings.
