The Parthenon; an essay on the mode by which light was introduced into Greek and Roman temples
An architectural essay by James Fergusson, published by John Murray in London in 1883, arguing how daylight reached the interiors of Greek and Roman temples, written for architects and antiquarians. The plates are line-engraved plans, cross-sections and elevations with hatched masonry, fluted Doric columns, coffered ceilings, clerestory screens and inked scale bars, giving designers clean measured drawings and shaded wall-cut patterns.
